Meet Kalani
Young boy born with the sea in his veins
He may be young at heart but his soul is definitely connected like glue to the ocean. Little Kalani has us completely blown away by his natural finesse on a board and his already deep connection to all that is flying above water.
Eight year old Kalani was born in New Caledonia and now lives in the idilic spot of Moorea, Tahiti, a dream location for any avid surfer and a place the Pros flock to when the swell is on, it’s home to the infamous Teahupoo wave break, known to many as the gnarliest in the world.
Kalani grew up fully immersed in the world of watersport, not only seeing riders rip from his back garden but his whole family and generations past are completely devoted to the water. His grandfather Patrice was the first to open a windsurf shop in New Caledonia back in 1984 and his father, Fred followed suit expanding the business to Tahiti. It is therefore only natural that young Kalani is attracted by this world, however don’t be fooled by his cool demeanour, he is still a little kid at heart who loves nothing more than playing Lego with his adored sister Alana.
Amazingly even at this age he already has pinned his favourite set up, choosing the red TK40 and Kujira 980. Although he tells us he’s still waiting for his own special board made just for him; a TK35 4'1 which he’ll most probably ride with the Kujira 750, no doubt he’ll continue to show us all up with his mesmerising skills. Way to go Kalani!
